Pringle of Scotland AW’12 – Menswear

by Adam the Editor

As many of you know I recently popped along to the Pringle of Scotland AW’12 press day hosted by Modus PR.

I am a massive fan of this brand – mainly because it’s British, high-quality and so on-trend right now! The SS’12 collection featured cool knitwear that harked back to the ancestral two-piece. Alistair Carr has transformed this ageing label into something that the fashion crowd covet and us regular folk aspire to.

The knitwear for AW’12 is so strong, as you would expect, with a range of cool, quirky fabrications and finishes that add a touch of luxe to a basic, wardrobe staple.

The collar detailing on these round- and v-neck jumpers makes for an interesting and playful design detail.

This knit had a mesh-like quality about it and the neon-blue really stands out. I think this needs to be on my shopping list for the coming season!

This coated fabric had a wicker-esque appearance. It also reminds me of medieval chain-mail armour. Would look fantastic with a simple pair of tailored shorts/trousers.

Tailoring was also a strong point for the menswear collection with a super-soft, luxurious biker in a wool-mix really standing out. I also loved the leather panelling on blazer jackets. These small, subtle design choices make a big impact in the crowded menswear market and it’s pleasing to see a British brand setting the trends rather than a French or Italian counterpart.

I like how the leather panelling on the sleeve extends to the mid-forearm. A quirky detail which works so well in this collection.

LOVE this! Need this for AW’12. A great classic jacket given a modern twist.
