Alexander Wang AW’12 – Womenswear

by Adam the Editor

Finally, a show to write home about!

I have tirelessly been looking through the show images on Style.com to see if there are any NYFW designers that are floating my boat. So far, as can be seen from my updates, there have been none! Fear not though, for Alexander Wang has saved the day.

Yet again Wang has created a collection of effortlessly cool clothes that women need to have in their wardrobes. The colour palette stayed true to form with a heavy dose of monochrome whilst the silhouettes, fabrications and general styling played on the typical Wang sport-luxe aesthetic.

I like the fact that Wang doesn’t alter his brand image every six months to suit the changing tastes of fashion editors and stylists. He knows his market and he designs clothes that people actually want to wear day-to-day. Commerciality can be boring but for Alexander Wang it works in his favour. Commerciality is what the Alexander Wang woman wants and that is exactly what they get.
