Louise Gray SS’12

by Adam the Editor

Louise Gray is all about colour and crazy embellishment. Her SS’12 collection lived up to expectations with a wild, glam, punk princess aesthetic. The models wore funky, platform shoes with rope detailing, crazy millinery and some out there accessories alongside dresses, trousers, jumpers, macs and cut-out tees.

Print had a heavy focus as did layering and applique. The whole colour spectrum was represented in clashing, garish ensembles that provided visual eye-candy.

Gray said that inspiration for the collection came from the aftermath of a party – the moment she and her friends got in from a night out and the idea of the blur of having fun. “It’s a mentality,” summed up Gray – whose philosophy for the collection was “everything matches if you like it”.

I think some of the pieces had great commercial appeal whilst others would be suited to an editorial set up paired with pieces from other, like-minded designers. Overall, a typical Louise Gray collection that delivered on many levels.
