Lulu Guinness AW’11 Press Day
by Adam the Editor
I popped along to the AW’11 Press Day for Lulu Guiness on Wednesday to have an up-close peek at some of her latest creations.
The collection was said to be inspired by 50’s Parisian couture. Draped gowns and cocktail dresses transpired in delicately scrunched leather in classic black, a rich burgundy and shimmery metallic.
The Studded Bow Wanda is their hero bag for the season. The leather is super soft and the stud detail turns a flouncy, feminine bag into something a little more harsher with a punk twist.
Signature lip clutches remain in an assortment of fun, funky and fabulous AW colours and finishes. I especially loved the crystal embellished and stars and stripes versions!
I also loved the calf hair, leopard print box clutch. The black trim contrasted well with the fun, animalistic print. It’s nice to see that leopard print isn’t a dying trend just yet. The closure, in the shape of a pouting lip, was also a nice, brand-focussed design detail.
The oriental fan clutches were also pretty special. This crystal embellished version captured the light beautifully and would dress up any party outfit.
Overall the collection was very typical of Lulu’s fun, playful take on classic, party and work bags. Her signature design details were ever present.
