Masato AW’11

by Adam the Editor

I had the pleasure of seeing the AW’11 collection from Masato today at Essex Fashion Week and I have to say, for such a small-scale designer, this guy is actually worth watching. He is a St Martin’s womenswear graduate working under the creative direction of Giles.

His own line is made-to-order.

The inspiration came from the form of a perfume bottle. Dressing the model (the perfume) in a fitted, simple but chic outfit (the bottle). The colour palette was typically autumnal with white, nude, black and brown mixed with a nice, eggshell print.

I particularly loved one of the coats, very over-sized but in a statement, Opera coat kinda way. The closing dress; a little white number was also beautifully made. You could see the workmanship that has gone into this small collection. I do hope Masato gains the backing of a bigger sponsor come next London Fashion Week so that he has a platform to develop a bigger collection that he can showcase to a wider audience.
