Louis Vuitton AW’11

by Adam the Editor

The Louis Vuitton show delivered on so many levels it was unreal.

Power dressing was at the forefront. Oversized blazer jackets juxtaposed nicely with super feminine, super fitted luxe dresses.

The colour palette was dark. Black, dirty emerald, acid purple and ice white were some of the key ingredients in this collection.

Details could be seen everywhere. From intricate hand embroidered coats and dresses to well cut, tailored pieces that appear too big but actually fit like a glove. The use of laser-cut leather provided another interesting element to what could be seen as a summary collection of the many trends that have already been shown by other brands for AW’11.

The setting exuded drama with the models wearing bellhop hats giving the impression that they were serving the wealthy elite at some swanky Parisian hotel. The overt use of the tacky monogram worked in a weird kinda way. Possibly highlighting the consumerist culture that we live in. ’50s silhouettes and prints also resurfaced suggesting that the ‘Mad Men’ trend isn’t dead quite yet!

Sexed-up, glamour-chic is the best way to describe this collection.
