Holly Fulton AW’11
by Adam the Editor
The Holly Fulton show started with a pop… The yellow and black colour scheme instantly grabbed the audiences attention and made them take note of what was to come.
Dresses were fitted and oh so flattering with geometric prints and art deco references taking a prominent position. Shaggy sheepskin also featured adding a playful touch and providing a nice interplay with texture.
As the show progressed the colour palette changed to turquoise and then to varying shades of red presented in a unique ‘lips’ digital print. My favourite outfit has to be the pearl encrusted t-shirt paired with the ‘lip’ trousers and a pair of nude, spiked Christian Louboutin heels.
Overall, the collection didn’t really feel that winter-focussed. The colour palette helped to bring a different approach to dressing in the cold climate. Some of the fabric choices did however leave me questioning their practicality on a day-to-day basis. Holly Fulton does however know how to dress the female silhouette and this collection re-inforced her credibility as an up and coming, NEWGEN sponsored designer.
A strong collection that builds on experience from past seasons.
